Team GB is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Wootton to the position of Head Coach within the ACU British International Six Days Enduro Team. With a wealth of experience and equal enthusiasm, Wootton, 29, from Welshpool, is committed to developing Team GB’s competitive edge with the support of the existing Management Team, ahead of the 99th ISDE in Bergamo, Italy, this August.
First riding at age 10, Joe participated in cross-country events before moving to timecard enduro at 17. Under the guidance of Wyn Hughes, Wootton joined Freestyle in 2014 and went on to achieve success in the British Enduro Championship. Joe has represented Great Britain at the ISDE three times (2015, 2017 & 2019) and distinguished himself as a competitor in the E2 class of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship.
The role of 'Head Coach' replaces the previous role of 'Team Manager', reflecting the needs of the modern era of professional factory riders. While the wider Management Team will continue to focus on fundraising, sponsorship, and logistics, Joe will support our riders to perform at their best with the goal of Team GB securing a place on the podium at Bergamo.
We would like to thank Joe’s predecessors, Jamie Lewis and Daryl Bolter, for their incredible work in recent years. Jamie and Daryl have played a key role in the team’s success, and we look forward to working with Joe to build upon this for the future.
Joe Wootton: “After years of focusing solely on myself and my own riding, I’m excited to give back to the sport and ensure the riders representing Team GB have the best chance of success. I can’t wait to get started and I think we have a lot of talent to choose from to pull together the best teams possible for this year’s ISDE in Italy.”
