The Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) is proud to launch the ACU National Media Accreditation process for its national championship events in 2025.
With the growth of off-road motorcycling and increased media interest, the ACU recognises the importance of providing a clear and professional accreditation process.
The new-for-2025 scheme is designed to enhance media standards, improve safety, and provide a structured framework for members of the media as they report on off-road motorcycle events across the UK.
The framework of the accreditation process will ensure accredited media personnel have a solid understanding of event regulations, safety procedures, and best practices when working in an off-road motorsport environment.
Key details of ACU National Media Accreditation:
- Application requirements – all applicants must provide supporting evidence from an editor or championship organiser about their professional media status
- Public liability insurance – a copy of the applicant’s public liability insurance document must be provided and will be securely filed at ACU House
- Annual cost and media tabard – accreditation costs £25.00 annually, and accredited personnel will receive an ACU media tabard which must be worn at ACU events
- Event permission and sign-on – accredited media must contact the event organiser and seek permission to attend an ACU event. They must also continue to sign-on at each event using the press and media signing-on form
- Track access and safety briefing – the Clerk of the Course will brief accredited media about areas of the track they can and cannot access
- Future expansion – following a successful introduction at the national level, this accreditation process will be rolled out to all ACU events going forward
ACU President, Tim Lightfoot, said: “The introduction of the ACU National Media Accreditation is a significant step forward in ensuring media professionals are equipped with the knowledge and access they need to cover our sport effectively and safely. We are committed to supporting the media, while prioritising the safety of everyone involved in our events.”
The ACU encourages all media professionals that regularly cover off-road events to apply for accreditation. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, with successful applicants receiving official credentials recognised by event organisers nationwide.
