The ACU is proud to join forces with RHL Activities – the organiser and promoter of the world-renowned Weston Beach Race – to secure a new and brighter future for the sand racing discipline in the UK.
As part of this exciting collaboration, a brand-new ACU British Sand Racing Championship will be launched for 2026, and a selection of new sporting initiatives will be introduced to further boost the appeal, spectacle, and reach of beach racing on UK shores.
Tim Lightfoot, ACU President, said: “We are delighted to continue the long-standing relationship with Gareth (Hockey) and the RHL Activities Team for the next five years and beyond in developing the sport of sand racing in the UK.
“As we know, sand racing is both fast-growing and hugely popular in terms of participation and attendance. The long-term partnership between the ACU and RHL – the market leader in sand racing events – provides a great foundation for us to build an exciting new sporting discipline as part of our wider aim to support and develop British motorcycle sport.”
Gareth Hockey, RHL Activities Managing Director, said: “This partnership is about legacy, innovation, and the next generation of sand racing. We’re not just talking about incremental change – we’re talking about bold moves that will see new riders, new formats, and a new era of competition for beach racing in the UK.”
The next Weston Beach Race is scheduled to be run on 3-5 October, 2025.
