Following the preliminary result of a random drug and alcohol test at the 2024 Manx Grand Prix, Mr. Sinclair’s licence was initially suspended. His licence was subsequently revoked further to the verification of the test results which confirmed the same. At the time, the ACU was fully reliant upon the results produced by the laboratory, which adhered to the necessary accreditation standards for testing. In accordance with the established procedures, the ACU followed due process in revoking Mr. Sinclair's licence based on the laboratory’s findings. However, after a subsequent, detailed investigation into the testing methods and processes used, it has come to light that the particular form of testing deployed may not have been entirely accurate in this instance. The ACU has taken these findings into careful consideration and following a full review of the circumstances, we have taken the decision to depart from the previous method of testing and will be adopting a new approach where drug testing is concerned. We acknowledge the significant impact and level of uncertainty this matter has had on Mr. Sinclair’s career and well-being. As a result of the investigation and our findings, the ACU has made the decision to reinstate Mr. Sinclair’s racing licence effective immediately. The ACU remains committed to upholding the integrity of the sport and ensuring that all procedures are thoroughly reviewed to prevent future misunderstandings. We sincerely appreciate Mr. Sinclair’s patience and cooperation throughout this process.
