Another great job by the Nene Valey MCC who hosted this final and deciding round of the series. Clerk of the Course Tony Jones assisted by Jack Lee and the rest of the Nene Valley Club had been busy for many months leading upto the event in clearing new areas for some very testing sections at the venue which will host next years 2025 FIM Trial GP.
With the day starting with a heavy downpour it was particularly slippery for the opening lap. Fortunately by mid morning the rain had eased in favour of some sunshine and the course improved throughout the day. As the afternoon wore on it was Harry Hemingway who pushed hard to take the win over Billy Green in 2nd place and Jack Peace coming home in third on the day. This was enough to secure Harry his first ACU Trial GB Championship in his year long battle over the Sherco mounted Jack Peace.
The Trial 2 Class was won by young Jamie Galloway who put in a stunning ride of only 7 marks lost over Duncan MacColl and Hugo Jervis. This result secured Jamie the Trial 2 title having won 4 of the 5 rounds, with Duncan MacColl securing 2nd in the overall on a tie break with Oliver Smith in 3rd place. Apologies must go to Alfie Lampkin and his camp who was called to the championship podium on the day, however this was in error as Oliver had a 3 point advantage after the dropped round rule had been applied.
The ACU Trial GB Expert support class had seen a different winner at each of the rounds, and Geddington turned out to be no different, this time with Tom Affleck taking the win with a virtually faultless performance of 3 marks lost. Ahead of Dan Thorpe on 7 in 2nd place and a 3 way tie for third place which was settled by most cleans. Luke Walker came out on top in the tie break and in doing so secured the ACU Trial GB Expert title for 2024.
