The big names keep on rolling into the biggest and undisputed best vets motocross event in the world - VMXdN Foxhill powered by John Banks. The four-day event takes place in August across the bank holiday weekend (22nd,23rd, 24th, 25th & 26th) at the iconic Wiltshire Grand Prix venue.
With nine classes stacked full of talent and legends there is plenty of racing action to feast your eyes upon and a race not to be missed is the Wright Engineering Team Race. The race provides the opportunity for riders to come together as a team and compete for honours in front of a packed amphitheatre on 21-year-old 2 strokes, with all the fans cheering, the air horns blaring and flags waving, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end just thinking about it.
Enter S Briggs commercials to throw their hat into the ring, not only have they been on board as a sponsor since the events inception in 2022, but they are also fielding a team into the Wright Engineering Team Race that nobody in their right mind would bet against.
The team managed by Spencer and Bradley Briggs is nothing short of impressive. Their history is deep within our sport with their father John Briggs helping and sponsoring many riders in the 80's. The passion runs deep with these brothers, so there will be no stone un-turned in the preparation for the event.
The official team name is S Briggs Commercials-Airport Autos, not only do these brothers have a modern race team but also one of the biggest and best collections of genuine works bikes in the world, and can you believe they have offered the team racers the use of them if they prefer (at the time of going to press we're not sure if any of them are brave enough to race the non-replaceable bikes, but are opting to race Honda CR 250 and 500's).
It’s not possible to pick a captain from the line up as all three guys have a pedigree beyond most taking the challenge, but we must start somewhere so the team consists of 2023 Arenacross champion Jack Brunell. He is a crowd favourite and an Arenacross star taking the championship for the first time in 2023 on the electric Stark Future machine. He's on a Honda for Foxhill but he maintains the same skills apply "It’s all about throttle control" apparently.
Then there's the wild Welshman Ashley Greedy (who can forget his antics in the head-to-head races at the Arenacross) but more recent stellar performances in every discipline of our sport from beach racing to Arenacross to MX including expert champion in 2023, Ashley is a dab hand at them all, he's on top form at present and not to be discounted for a win.
The third man on the team is none other than journeyman racer and local Foxhill lad Adam Chatfield. Having raced all over the world in his career he has spent much of his time racing in the states and boasts many a title to his name. Adam is a racer through and through and will be taking the event seriously (well when he has his helmet on anyway).
The team have accomplished racer Jim Davies on hand as reserve should there be any injury issues on the run up to the event.
The four-day family festival celebrates everything that is great and good in the vets and evo two-stroke motocross world with not only the world’s best riders on track battling for their country's honours on 21-year-old factory level bikes as well as legends of the sport on site to hang out, catch a photo or grab a cold beer with.
The Foxhill Show’N’Shine bike show (Friday, 23rd) is a big hit and massively subscribed, the machines on show are nothing short of spectacular and for 2024 with the Range/Wilko on board as sponsor the prizes will be huge. Then the nightly evening shows with live podcasts with the Torq Moto guys Jeffro and Wobs in conjunction with Pulp MX's Steve Matthes, rider interviews, as well as a DJ to give the crowds the chance to dance into the night.
The inaugural 2022 event was an instant hit, forging VMXdN Foxhill into becoming the biggest and best vets’ event in the world and one of the highlights of the British MX calendar, the 2023 event was even bigger, better, and more! Getting an entry is near impossible and the 2024 just keeps getting better. With more legends and attractions being announced almost daily it is most certainly one not to be missed - and all for as little as £16 a day (adult weekend ticket), it seems almost too good to be true.
The promoters are anticipating tickets selling out before the gate opens and are urging anyone wanting to attend to secure their tickets and camping passes asap! “We are anticipating that this will become a ticket only event, which is a first for an outdoor race, but the simple fact is, we’re well on target for the event to be sold out”.
