The NORA MX Club hosted the eighth round of the NORA MX championships of 2023 at the Little Silver track in Exeter, Central Devon. It was part of another fantastic event which incorporated the fifth round of the British Quad Championship.
In the British Championship class, racing got underway with an early lead for Harry Walker going on to take his first win of the day, he was chased by Dean Dillon who held second, with Dafydd Davies passing Tom Day to take third. Zac Orchard was just behind in fifth, with Carl Bunce sixth.
In race two it was Dafydd Davies who took an initial lead with Harry Walker fighting to find a way past, after a good battle Harry moved into the lead going on to take a second win, Dafydd stayed close and took second. Behind Chad Beevers fought hard to take third, battling to stay ahead of Dean Dillon who recovered well from a slow start. Zac Orchard dropped back to fifth with Tom Day just behind.
In their final championship race of the day, it was Harry walker who took another win and full points, to give him first overall on the day. Chad Beevers also had a great final race in second which gave him second overall and the highest under-21 point scorer. Dean Dillon held third which was enough for him to take the second overall. Unfortunately, Dafydd Davies had problems towards the end of the race and didn’t finish.
The Masters A and B class had three races. In race one it was Paul Winrow who led from the start with Johnathan Mcknight behind, Greg Fisher battles hard but had to settle for third, with Chris Keitch fourth. Darren Bridge was just behind, but hard problems and didn’t finish the race.
In race two it was a battle between Johnathan Mcknight and Paul Winrow, they stayed very close throughout with Paul Winrow holding the advantage and took his second win of the day. Greg Fisher held third from Chris Keitch, with Ben Richmond taking fifth.
In their third race Johnathan Mcknight again took an initial lead with Paul Winrow finding a way past to take a third win and the overall win on the day, with Johnathan Mcknight second overall. Greg Fisher held third which was enough to give him third overall.
In the Masters B class Jason Hall battled all day with James Lees, just managing to hold the overall win by three points.
In the Clubman Elite and Clubman classes there were some great battles with Aled Davies taking three brilliant wins. In race one Josh McKnight held an initial lead but held on to take second, and in race two Jordan Hickman had a brilliant start holding third and fighting through to take a great second, this was enough to give him second overall on the day, with Lewis Humphris finishing three consistent races and taking third overall.
In the 150 / 250 races it was Frank Marston who took overall win in the 250 open class. He initially led race one, with Louie Holt fighting passed to take the win. Frank Marston won the second race after Louie Holt had problems whilst in the lead. In their final race of the day Frank Marston held on for a second win, ahead of Louie Holt and Connor Yates.
Jay Sams had three great wins in the 250 Air cooled class with Jamie Burnett taking second overall. Brodie North did a great job to win the 150 Open class.
In the Intermediates Josh Morris had a great weekend with two wins, Brooke Bunce did win race one and took two seconds, to win the ladies class.
Finally, the 50 / 100 class was well supported Kayla George took two hard fought for wins in the 100 Autos after battles all day with Owain Lewis who won race one. Shay McKenna took the overall win in the 100 Geared class with Beatrix Drinkwater second, and Macson Lorton had a consistent day to take the overall in the 50s class, with Gracie-Anne Blythe holding a brilliant second.
