New Track in the North East Ignites Excitement at The Revo ACU British Championship

The Revo British Motocross Championship headed to the North East for first time in over 15 years this past weekend as riders descended upon to School House in Consett for the penultimate round of the championship.

The smallest of the classes here at Schoolhouse are the 65cc who are joining us for their second race of the season, after coming through qualifying clubs all over the country. There was one clear winner this weekend in the 65cc class, Harley Marczak took the class by storm as he cleared all four races ahead of Casey Lister by fourteen points. Cohen Jagielski sits just four points behind that. We also saw Coppins and Merriman podium in fourth and fifth respectively.

In the Small Wheel class the podium remained the same as Hawkstone Park, with Joel Winstanley-Dawson in first, Jenson Severn in second and Arthur Moore in third. Again Severn and Winstanley-Dawson called it close each race with Severn managing to steal the third race win from under his nose. Chase Panter also had a respectable run this weekend coming fourth overall, moving his championship standing position to fourth. Whilst Archie Butterfield racked up the points.

The sixth round of the BW85 class championship showcased four exceptional talents, providing thrilling racing that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Charlie Richmond emerged as the standout performer, taking a six-point lead over Josh Vail. Richmond's dominance was solidified with three out of four race victories on Sunday, leaving spectators in awe of his incredible speed and precision. Jamie Keith and Drew Stock also made their mark, earning valuable championship points.

In the 125cc class Reece Jones again made it to top step on the podium with three of four race wins. With Wal Beaney close on his tail claiming that additional race win. Unfortunately, Wal had a shortfall in the second race on the Saturday, setting him back a few valuable points. However, this did not stop him on Sunday making up these points and finishing second overall. In third was Tyla Hooley, who sites fifth overall despite missing the first three rounds of the season.

The 250cc class took an unexpected turn this round, not following the narrative from the previous rounds. Champion-elect Billy Askew had a DNF on the first lap of race three from a crash, putting an end to his perfect season and allowing for another competitor to break through. Unexpectedly, Liam Bennett prevailed whilst runner up in the championship standings Mckenzie Marshall continued through coming second in every race of the weekend, however, Askews DNF allowed enough points for Marshall to make his debut on the top step of the podium.

In MX2 we saw the potential for Isak Gifting to be crowned champion with Bobby Bruce out through injury. But Isak didn’t take to this round at all finishing with a total of 25 points. He still remains the top of the Championship with Taylor Hammal 42 points behind leaving not much room for error in the final round of the season. Elliott Banks-Browne was on course for a perfect 1-1 weekend before a rock got stuck in his chain resulting in a DNF in race 1. Talk Templant KTM rider Ollie Colmer led the race through much of the first lap before unfortunately crashing and bringing his day to a premature end. It was Banks-Browne who would make amends for race one however, with a great ride to win race two.

The MX2 podium would eventually see two new faces with Jorgen-Matthias Talviku and Mel Pocock debuting, it was certainly a mixed race but the #23 Gabriel SS24 KTM rider Taylor Hammal would take the top step for the first time this year to round out an awesome day of racing!

In a turn of events in the MX1 class we saw Ivo Monticelli set the fastest time in qualifying, he then continued this into race one, however, fell short in the second race meaning he positioned 11th overall. The weekend also saw some awesome battles between teammates Conrad Mewse and Josh Gilbert who fought it out respectfully but competitively. But it was Mewse who took the advantage, finishing on the top step with his teammate just behind in second. Evgeny Bobryshev had a great weekend with his first podium of the season sitting third overall after having a round out at Hawkstone Park. Title contender and previous red plate holder Harri Kullas would miss out on a a podium for the first time all season having fallen to fourth overall, and now sits 33 points behind Mewse.

Join us to watch all the classes crown a champion at Oxford Motoparc on the 9th & 10th September.
