Sidcup and District MCC are pleased to confirm 17th September as the date for the 2023 Timber Woods Long Distance Trial. We have moved the date of the TWLDT as the club already have 8 events scheduled for June and July in which most of our stalwart workers and officials will be involved. With the club’s busy program of 22 events in 2023 it was difficult to find a free date that didn’t clash with other LDT’s.
We are also very excited to announce that we have secured a new start and finish area for 2023. You will be going to Betteshanger Country Park near Sandwich in Kent, where there will be a hard standing parking area for excess of 100 vehicles. The Park will provide a Food Truck serving Tea, Coffee and Bacon Rolls etc. There are Toilet facilities in the main building and a superb restaurant serving meals should you require refreshments after the event.
Betteshanger Country Park is the site of the former Betteshanger Colliery and the main building also houses the Kent Mining Museum, admission is free although a donation is requested, it closes at 4.00 pm so you may have time for quick look around. Coal was last mined at Betteshanger in 1989.

A ninety mile route has been provisionally planned using Byways not previously included in TWLDT’s. There are so many Byways in East Kent that we are spoilt for choice when route planning. I have included some old favourites and some that we have not used for many years, I’m hoping that when we test ride it they are not too over grown.
Put the 17th September 2023 in to your LDT diaries and start looking forward to a fantastic days riding in East Kent.
