Toddington UK  – 9th  December 2022 – The ACU, along with promoter Octane Junkies and Luton & District Motorcycle club have joined forces to create the all new ACU British Vet Motocross Championships, giving vet riders the chance to compete for an official ACU British Championship title.  The event will take place on 3rd and 4th June 2023 at Luton and Districts home track Toddington.  The natural hillside track which is located just off Junction 12 of the M1, provides an “old school” challenge that is enjoyable for riders of all ages and all skills.   There will be a variety skilled based classes for +30, +40, +50 and plus 60 competitors ensuring that  riders get to race with people who are of similar speed and age to themselves, making the racing closer and more enjoyable for all.

What is it?

A 2 day festival of racing dedicated to veteran (vet) riders of all ages and skill levels.  There are a range of age based and skill based race classes to choose from with the bragging rights of being an ACU British Champion up for grabs for the best of the best in each age group.

All elements of the event have been designed to suit vet racers, from the track choice and preparation to the off track entertainment.  Our focus is on making the most enjoyable and memorable event possible for the vet racers that attend.

Who is it for?

This race meeting is for anyone over the age of 30 who can race a motocross bike.  We have various race classes based on age and skill level.   Each race class will get its own race and classification. This ensures you are racing against people of a similar age and skill level to yourself, which makes the racing more enjoyable for everyone.

We want to encourage all vet dirtbike riders to come and have a go,  so whether you are an expert level racer at the top of your game or someone that hasn't raced for 20 years then we have a race class suited to you.

How does it work?

There are 4 ACU British Championship classes

+30 (for riders between the ages of 30 and 39)

+40 (for riders between the ages of 40 and 49)

+50 (for riders between the ages of 50 and 59)

+60 (for riders over the age of 60)

And there will be the following supporting classes

+30 Novice (for riders between the ages of 30 and 39)

+30 Intermediate (for riders between the ages of 30 and 39)

+40 Novice (for riders between the ages of 40 and 49)

+40 Intermediate (for riders between the ages of 40 and 49)

+50 Novice (for riders between the ages of 50 and 59)

+50 Intermediate (for riders between the ages of 50 and 59)

Each class will get 1 timed qualifying practice and 6 races across the 2 days

The overall winners and podium finishers of each of the 4 Championship classes will be awarded official ACU British Championship Medals and the winners will be invited to the ACU champions presentation at the end of the year.  The winners will also get the prestigious number 1 red plate to use at next year's event.

How to enter

As this is year one of the event we will be limiting the numbers to ensure we can deliver a high quality event.

riders will be able to book in via the ACU website towards the end of January 2023 exact date to be announced nearer the time.

The track

With this being a race meeting for Vet riders of all skill levels we wanted to make sure that the track we selected would be enjoyable, challenging and safe for all of our racers. We also wanted to have this meeting as centrally located as possible to make it easily accessible for as many riders as possible.   Toddington Motocross track is a traditional motocross track on the side of a hill next to the J12 of the M1.

The track is the home venue for the Luton and District Motorcycle club and has been in existence for around 20 years.  The fast flowing natural track has a combination of hill sections, fun but safe jumps and has a long lap which make it an ideal track for the British Vet Championships.

The track will be well prepared, watered and groomed before and during each day's racing to make sure it is always in an enjoyable condition to race on.
