Green Light Nationals meeting is a double header in the ACU Championships with round four on Saturday and round five on Sunday.
The riders had tricky conditions with a headwind till mid-track, which then became a crosswind situation.
Funny Bike.
Lorcan Parnell has had bad luck this season, but things were starting to get better, despite handling issue Parnell qualified number one 6.946-169.17. Points leader Louis Davies was next 7.143-179.93. Roger Moore ran 7.724-172.38 to take third just ahead of Tony Clark who was making his first appearance of the season on Phil Crossley bike 7.746-125. But the motor let go near the finish and Clark was out of the show. Dave Peters had a lot of work to get the bike ready for this event. Repairing two motors and the frame and had an electrical issue in qualifying 8.614-98.
Parnell had a bye run in the opening round. As did Moore who is starting to run well, recording 7.682-164. Davies put a holeshot (rt065 to 273) over Peters and took the win 7.161-175.76 to Peters best of the w/end 7.301-163.69 but the engine let go and the team found bits of ally in the exhaust and decided to not compete the rest of the event. Into the semis and Parnell wasted 7.030 when he red lit against Moore 7.707-170.45. who reached his first ACU final. Davies had a bye in the other semi. Davies got out gate first and took the win 7.467-175.03 to Moore best of the day 7.666-171.09.
Comp Bike.
Paul Hambridge was on top form and ran 7.330 with a personal best speed of 190.48 to lead the field. Graham Dance ran 7.463-193.04. Jordan Kenway tested before the qualifying and was happy but then struggled until 8.076-163.07 came on the board. Chris Neary was next 8.281-156.28. Mick Winyard had dirt in the carb and ran a best of 8.444-173.74. John McLean Sr buckled a front wheel after a wheelie in testing on Friday. New wheel fitted and ran 8.457-159.62 just ahead of Len Paget with new bodywork for his bike 8.464-179.14.
Hambridge ran another 7.334 with another personal speed 191.33 on a bye run. Winyard staged foul against Neary. Paget bogged off the start line against Dance who ran 7.492-196.41. but found bits of teeth from the oil pump and then the gear on crankshaft and was out of the competition for the weekend. McLean beat Kenway. Hambridge led from start to finish against Neary 7.399 to 7.963. McLean had a bye to his first ACU final and tested a tune up resulting 8.298. McLean took a shot at the tree rt048 and was ahead of Hambridge who drifted out of the groove to the wall at mid-track, But Hambridge just edged McLean at the finish line 8.098 to McLean best 8.236.
Super Street Bike.
Jake Mechaell was the best out of the tricky track with a 7.036-202.57. Alan Morrison Jr has changed over to Methanol with a Maxx ECU and different Turbo and the team Richard Stubbins and Alan are very thankful for the help from Brad O’Connor for a baseline on the ECU resulting in a time of 7.257-200.60. Ross Morrison was third with 7.280-192.22. Dave Smith had changed his gearing 7.343-203.35. Steve Venables was another racer changing to a Maxx ECU Turbo and new bodywork and went back to Motec ECU after testing. Qualify 7.388-209.83. Mark Hope had a coil issue and ran 7.449-199.49. Mark Dainty was next 7.621-192.13 followed by Thurty Martina who was having fuel problems with the Methanol 6.794-164.26. Both Stephen Mead and Garry Bowe had problems
Mechaell eased passed Martina who still had a fuel issue 7.427 to 8.486. Smith had shift problem at mid-track (neutral gear) against Venables. Morrison Jr drifted to the wall but led from start to finish against Dainty7.421 to 7.500. Hope beat Ross Morrison 7.326 to 7.536. In the semis Mechaell had a fuel leak in the burnout box leaving Venables a solo run to the final. Best race of the day saw the second semi-final decided on the start line Morrison Jr holeshot Hope (rt047 to 065) and they crossed the finish line with identical times 7.262-202.42 for Morrison Jr and 7.262-196.40 to Hope. Venables took the win light in the final 7.209 to Morrison Jr 7.399.
