Three Wins for Max Taylor in the Streetstock class, plus three wins and a Lap record for Steven Lawton in the 50cc class.
Brilliant sunshine saw the ACU 50 and 125 cc Streestocks 6th round at Tonfanau on Sunday and some great racing on the fast mile long circuit.
On his 50cc machine, Steve Lawton gave us a master class in smooth riding and energy management on the bumpy cambered surface posting a new lap record of 48.17 Secs with an impressive average speed of 74.74 mph. Taking 14 points away from the Championship leader Owen Monaghan in the process. Warren Harvey on his 50cc Bidelot was never far behind Lawton and took home 3 second place trophies on the day. However, championship leader Owen Monaghan had a mixed day with a troublesome fueling issue but was able to retain his Championship lead thanks to his hard earned points earlier in the year and goes into the last round at Angelsey with a 22 point buffer over Steve Lawton.
In the 125 Streetsock class, championship leaders Luis Murphy and Dominic Garner were unable to take part and it was left to Sam Cookson and Max Taylor to capitalise on his absence. Max with a mature ride on his beautifully prepared Suzuki took all three wins with a solid display of riding to climb into 4th place on the championship table. Whilst Sam had a troubled day only picking up 10 points but he now moves into second place, 24 points behind Luis Murphy. Husband and Wife Streetstock riders, Shannon and David Harley took home five trophies between them for the family mantlepiece with some great riding.
The championship now moves to it’s final round at Angelsey on the 17th and 18th of September. With 48 points available in both of the championships, nobody is showing any signs giving way yet; the competition will prove to be close at the next event.
