In a forward thinking move, the ACU Trials & Enduro Committee have approved the introduction of an Electric class in the final round of the ACU Trial GB Series, which will take place near Oswestry on October 2nd.
The class will be for Adults only, riding full size electric machines. It will carry the title of the ACU Electric Cup with the winner effectively being crowned the Champion at the end of the event.
The Trial will consist of the normal three laps of twelve sections and the Trial Electric Class as it will be known will be based on the Trial 125/Expert route through the sections, with some easier deviations in certain parts as required.
Entries will be available on the normal ACU website portal.
Series Manager, Brian Higgins commented, “There is no doubt that in future years the use of Electric motorcycles will grow at speed and I am delighted that the ACU have the foresight to introduce this class into the championship. I expect that Trial Electric could well form a full British Championship class at some rounds in 2023 and this will give riders a sample of what is on offer. Modern electric machines are now as competitive as their petrol counterparts, but we will ensure that the sections are suitable for all abilities”.
