KSMXC kicked off their 2022 season at a very sunny Mildenhall. The track hadn’t opened its doors for racing since the pandemic, so the club was in for a very busy meeting. With a full membership for 2022. Only very few non-members managed to secure a gate on the day.
The under 35’s started the day, this fast group, saw Chambers Racing rider Alfie Jones take the lead in Moto one, but Jones went down halfway through the first Moto, so Rob Wood took the advantage to take the first Moto win. Wood took the Holeshot in the second Moto, but Jones kept his head down and stayed consistent to take Moto two and three. Jones took the top step of the podium with Wood taking second, Richard Carter took the final podium place.
In the Small Wheel 85 Blake Ward-Clarke dominated the day and made the rough Mildenhall conditions look smooth.. Harley O’Callaghan, Jack Leese and Travis Bixby battled for the other podium positions. Leese took second overall with 2-4-2. Bixby took third.
In the Junior 65 class Riley-Ray Barrow took the overall with a 1-1-1 Franky Donoghue took a great consistent second, with Harley Ince taking third.
In the Big Wheel class, Ben Casey dominated the day with a 1-1-1. Rocco Hands and Kai Thorpe fought for the other podium positions, Thorpe had the edge to take second, with Hands third.
In the Auto’s Harley-James Barrow, took first overall, the Barrow brothers, we’re on fire this weekend and had a great start to their 2022 championship. Hunter Groves took second with a great 3-1-2. Bobby Sandford took the final podium place.
In the schoolboy two-stroke class, Ashton Boughen showed his dominance and led from the start. Max Smith was going well, but took a nasty off in the second race to DNF, but came back in the third, to prove the tumble didn’t shake him. A consistent Cody Spacagna took second overall with Toby Buchan Third.
In the schoolboy four-stroke class Charlie Nudds took the overall on the day, with Harvey Antrobus second and Alfie Gomm third.
In the Over 35 class, Matty White and Jonathan Pettitt went head to head, these two great riders are great to watch, White had the edge on the day to take the overall with Pettitt second and a great consistent ride from Jon Tapp to take third.
In the Over 50’s class Richard Brown took the overall with a 1-1-1. Anthony Hilton took second with Stuart Milbourne third.
Thanks to the committee, workers, paramedics, who worked their socks off at the weekend.
Speedy recovery to all injured riders.
