2022 sees the Festival of Power event back to it’s original place in the racing calendar, over the Easter holidays 15-17th April. Which is the start of the 2022 ACU and National drag racing championships.
Top Fuel Bike.
There is a good turn out of five fuel bikes. Steve Woollatt will defend his title having fitted a different blower for the new season with strong opposition in the likes of Al Smith and Neil Midgley.
Smith will be testing new components at Easter. Midgley will be riding the ex Filippos Papafilippou bike, with some of Papafilippou crew helping with the tuning of the bike. Rene Van Den Berg will add an international flavour to the class. Shawn Rodman will debut his new Al Smith constructed and built V Twin fuel bike.
Funny Bike.
Stuart Crane will be testing new components at this event and is looking to continue running in the mid six-second bracket. Teammate Mark Smith will also be hoping to run in the sixes. Lorcan Parnell had a lot of bad luck last year and will be hoping to run 6.6 at over 200mph. 2021 ACU Comp Bike Champion Louis Davies has moved over to Funny Bike for 2022. Also entered are Dave Peters and Roger Moore.
Comp Bike.
Chris Neary had a great season last year getting quicker and faster as the year went by and finishing runner up in 2021. Graham Dance and Len Paget have moved from Super Street Bike to Comp Bike. Jordan Kenway will be looking run in the seven-seconds and John McLean Sr will also be hoping for the same.
Super Street Bike.
Steve Venables will have tough opposition in the form of Alan Morrison Jr, Jake Mechaell and Daniel Lencses who has a new DME bike that has run in the sixes in the USA. Stephen Mead and Mark Dainty also could win the event. Former ACU Comp Bike Champion Margot Schmidt will be at the event
