Gearing up for the 38th Anniversary of the Weston Beach Race

This year the Weston Beach Race is back and more extreme than ever as it hits the 38th anniversary. This year once again we see classes from the 65cc to the Adult Solo class competing at the UK’s biggest offroad motorsport event.

This year Todd Kellet is back to take on the battle for the Adult solo title after taking three back to back wins in 2016 to 2018, With Enduro World Champion Steve Holcombe making a comeback after competing back in his youth. The weekend will have action packed racing, trials demos from Dougie Lampkin and the Danny Butler Extreme Mountainbike team, plus more off-track things to do and see.

In the Youth 125/250 class, these riders are nothing short of invincible when it comes to racing the beach race. We see the return of Charlie Palmer in the 125 class, in 2019 Charlie won the 85cc race and has now moved up so it will be interesting to see what he can do this year. Bailey Johnston will be competing in the 125cc class and the Adult solo race on Sunday. These young soldiers are the future stars of the sport and will battle it out on the sandy track for the title of Weston Beach Race Winner 2021.

Our youngest riders, the 65cc class will do their upmost on the dunes of the Weston Beach to determine who will take the title. ACU British Championship competitor Olly Waters who came 5th in the Championship, will be taking on the challenge before rounding out his season and will certainly be a contender for the race win, along with Luca Tatchell and Teddy Merriman, who is riding for GRT Holeshot and has recently recovered from a wrist injury, and Riley Butterworth.

The final race on Saturday lies with the quad and sidecar competitors. The Quadzilla quad and sidecar class with four categories competing - quads, Two-man Quads, 4x4 and the Sidecar. When it comes to the race quad category Jamie Morgan is a fan favourite and will be competing again this year, as will Carl Bunce who has won the Beach Race twice before in 2013 & 2014 and will be looking to add to his number of race wins

The Davies/Ferguson sidecar team we’re sure will be looking for a fifth consecutive win to add to their titles or will they allow someone new to step up and take their place as sidecar champions? This year we will see FIM Sidecar Motocross Championship riders George Kinge and Chris Pannell take on the Weston Beach Race and it certainly will be a close battle between them and the Davies/Ferguson team for the title.

Sunday morning, we have the 85cc Small Wheel and 85cc Big Wheel classes. The likes of Freddie Gardiner (Matt Gardiner MX), Ollie Bubb, and Isaac Ash who are all competing in this year’s race in the SW85cc class after coming top three in the 65cc class in 2019 all three are favourites to win the race.

The Solo race is the hair-raising highlight of the Weston Beach Race weekend. With a strong line up of riders thundering down the 2km straight for the three hour long race to determine this year’s winner with amateur and professional riders competing. 2019 winner Ashley Greedy will be looking to take the title again however, three time winner Todd Kellet is back for 2021 along with Mel Pocock and World Enduro Champion Steve Holcombe. All eyes will be on this race to see who will take the title. Jamie Wainwright will also be competing in this year’s race after finishing third in 2019. We wish each and every rider good luck – these races are super tough and crazy, but we are sure you’ll get through it! Spectators, you'd better cheer them on as loud as you can!
