What felt like the hottest day of the year welcomed the first of Sudbury events open to spectators and riders did not disappoint as a gorgeous day was had by all, in the multi lap penalty determined event.
The 121 competitors tackled the 5-mile track through woodland and farmland from 10am till mid-afternoon with ever decreasing time to complete the lap and a timed special test on laps 2 & 3. All laps included the infamous Bog with back markers holding up some of the leaders as the lines got more rutted and congested.
Championship & Expert Riders completed 9 laps and Clubman class 7 laps as the day grew hotter and the dust more apparent over the beautiful rolling Hertfordshire countryside. This 3rd round kept the solo riders in the top 6 from the previous rounds on their toes and with 4 of the 5 rounds to count towards the championship, todays win strengthened the Lead for Luke Parker in Championship Class, Paul Belton in Clubman Vets and John Hilton in Clubman Super Vets. The Expert Class championship is divided by just a few points with Joe Phillips winning on points after a win at Blaxhall last week beating todays winner Jake Roper currently in second place. Paul Spurgen leads the Expert Vets after his second place today and there is a tie for second place with Phil Roper and Darren Nicolaou neither who tackled the Home Farm track today.
With all eyes on the next round on the 15th August it looks to be an exciting finish for the Championship title with two remaining rounds to go.
