With the dust barely settled on the one race meeting held at the Darley Moor Motorsport Centre, near Ashbourne (DE6 2ET) so far this year, the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club are preparing for their end of season finale on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October. Whilst it may not be the usual Stars at Darley meeting, with a handful of British Superbike stars mixing it with the Club’s regulars, there are plenty of adrenaline starved competitors and spectators who cannot wait for next weekend, with the action beginning at 1000hrs on both days.
With over a week to go there is already a huge entry list and fans of sidecar racing will be in for a real treat as for the first time in a long while the two classes, Open Sidecar and Formula 600 Sidecar will be run as separate races. Add to this the regular solo classes plus UK Kart Racing Club’s races and motorsport fans had best be sure to order their tickets by Tuesday 6th October 2020, from www.darleymor.co.uk (Adult £13.00, Seniors £10.00). Do not forget you cannot buy tickets on the day, at the gate.
Originally, the weekend was scheduled to be the final two rounds of the Club Championship, but in this strangest of years with the opening 4 Rounds having to be cancelled these last final events are just individual race days.
However, as proved last time it does not impact on the quality of racing, in fact with no fear of dropping championship points, the racing can sometimes be more exciting to watch.
Already there are plenty of local competitors that are regularly at the head of the field and capable of claiming their share of the weekend’s silverware. A quick glimpse down the early entry list highlights several competitors that were in ‘the mix’ at the previous meeting:
Double winner last time out Jamie Hanks Elliott (Birmingham) will be joined by fellow female racers, 2019 Junior Champion Katie Hand (Cabourne) and Junior Class Runner-Up Scarlett Robinson (New Mills) in the Junior and Lightweight races. Senior Class victor last time out, David Glossop (Wilmslow) will be trying to turn the tables and going for the Overall win this time round.
2019 CB500 Champion and another double winner in 2020, Mark Brailsford (Chesterfield) will, no doubt once again, have the attentions of Liam Clements (Newcastle under Lyme) to deal with in the class, whilst Overall winner of the second CB500/Lightweight race Jack Worth (Barnsley) will be trying for the double on both days.
Ben Dale (Warrington) will be determined to improve on his last results in the Pre-Electronic 600 & 700 Twins races, after failing to finish the opening race, whilst leading, Thanks to Dale’s misfortune in that race Stuart Bradbury (Kilburn) was another of the weekend’s double victors.
The Formula 600 class provided the closest finish of the day last time out with Harry Jackson (Mansfield) holding off Richard Wardle (Stoke on Trent) in the opening race. The tables were turned in the second race after Jackson was unable to get on the rear wheel of Wardle in the opening laps. A larger entry this time around is sure to add plenty of sparks in this hotly contested class. The pair are also sure to feature in the Peak Cup class races, then add Carl Morris (Etwall), Tim Poole (Northwich) and these will also be not to be missed races.
After dropping out of the opening race, whilst leading the Macclesfield Sidecar pairing of Dan Knight/Ben Hughes will, no doubt, be determined to rectify matters this time in the Formula 600 Sidecar class. Runner-Up in last year’s Open Sidecar class Anthony Eades (Hyde) will have Amy Dodds (Crewe) alongside him trying to take the honours in the class this time around.

The Darley Moor Club have put a lot of effort in to bring the circuit and facilities in line with other venues and for spectators to be permitted to the race meetings. A large amount of work has been undertaken to improve facilities for spectators in the only area where they will be currently allowed to view from, Park Corner to the Hairpin, including a new spectator bank at Park Corner from which you can see the Starts.
As you can imagine in this exceedingly difficult year there are several strict guidelines that must be adhered to:
1. No Spectator Access to Darley Moor Motor Sports Centre for Track Days or Test Days
2. Spectators must not attend if they show any signs of Covid-19 or are required to self-isolate.
3. All Tickets must be purchased in advance from
up to the Tuesday before the meeting, to allow postage.
4. All Season Ticket holders must leave their name and telephone number with Gate Staff.
5. All tickets will be Daily Tickets and no camping is available on site.
6. Spectators will not be allowed into the Paddock.
7. Spectators will only be able to view from Park Corner to the Hairpin.
8. The Pope Straight will always remain closed.
9. Social Distancing must always be observed, and spectators are encouraged to use the sanitiser units around the site.
