Sadly, after a long illness Alan Morewood passed away last week. Born and breed around Sheffield, Alan was the British Sidecar Trials Champion in the sixties aboard the Selly Oak marque of Ariel. He liked the big single so much that he was one of the last people to compete in the Scottish Six Days Trial with one in the seventies. A trials enthusiast all of his life, Alan together with wife Merle, who initially passenger for him in the chair, were keen members and helpers of the Sheffield and Hallamshire MCC and in particular organising the National Peak Trial.
Following retirement from work, the couple took to the road in their motorhome appearing in the paddock of world trials the length and breadth of Europe supporting the British competitors. Alan’s sons Robin and David followed in their father’s footsteps being trials champions in their own right on two and three wheels. Our sincere condolences go to the family on their loss.
