As part of the ACU’s objective to get off-road motorsport going again. Diss MCC will be running a two-man team enduro sponsored by Dave Barkshire on Sunday the 16th August at a new venue, Rushford, near Thetford. The event is to be held on private farmland and woods.
Classes are open for Championship, Expert and Clubman and as the event is running under the Hare and Hounds Regulations, lights are not required. From a grading purpose, motocross riders wishing to enter should remember: Expert MX riders and the top 5 juniors (2019 ACUE championship) should enter the Championship Class, then the next 10 top juniors should enter Expert or above. This will ensure you are competing in the appropriate class.
As the event is likely to get full very quickly, entries are being restricted to ACU Eastern Clubs. Both you and your partner must have entered for your entries to be accepted. All entries must be made using the ACU online system. No other form of entry will be accepted.
The reason it is not at the normal venue of Wattisfield is the stubble fields are unlikely to be cut due to the very late planting. The new venue also lends itself to a larger parking and pit area to meet Covid -19 restrictions.
From a rider’s perspective, there are a number of very important changes to the format of the event. It is critical for the event to be a success, for riders to take the time to read the rider instructions which are attached to the supplementary regulations (pages 2&3). The instructions provide details on changes to sign on, scrutineering, start, time controls, reporting to first aid plus a number of other issues. We are relying heavily on riders acting responsibly and maintaining social distancing. If you don’t, the likelihood of Diss MCC running further events this year is remote.
The event is being timed by Don Blackman using the Sudbury Club transponder timing equipment to avoid the need to have a normal time control. If you do not have one of the Sudbury transponder tags, then you will need to purchase one as part of your online entry for £10.00. Entries will open from 19.30 Monday 6th July so make sure you and your partner are ready to enter. Apply online: https://www.ride-acu.uk/Secure/Login.aspx
