Illegal Riding in Northampton

Monday February 17, 2020 at 4:31pm
Harlestone Firs in Northampton has gathered a reputation Nationally as a place to ride motocross. Unfortunately, it is actually illegal to ride here despite popular belief that it is ok. One part of this area is owned by Northampton Council with the other being owned by the Althorpe Estate, neither of which have given permission for anyone to ride on the land.

The local Police receive frequent complaints about noise and dangerous riding on this area.

There has been a substantial period of time where the Police have been trying to educate and discourage people from riding here however, they are now at the point where they are going to start removing bikes from those found there.

Northamptonshire Police don’t want to have to do this but sadly they are being left with little choice. The area is routinely patrolled by officers on off-road motorcycles.

It is illegal to ride on any public land, or private land without the landowners permission. The ACU has also made it clear that any member caught will, under the ACU National Sporting Code, have their licence suspended.
