This Sunday September 22nd the Point-S South West Masters Motocross Championships makes its way to the Historic venue of Farleigh Castle for what will be the final round in the series. Entries for this event have been coming in for weeks as it is one of the most popular venues in the country and as most of you know it played host to the 2019 VetsMXDN just a couple of weeks ago.
In the 24MX Expert Championship it is local rider to Farleigh Luke Hawkins on the Cheddar MX Honda who goes into the final round with a 44 points lead over the Tony Maunders Racing Suzuki of Jamie Skuse who rode at the Vets meeting in the EVO 250 class and dominated all 4 races and with exactly the same track being used he will be familiar to the layout and will be looking to do well as will many others including Rob Cross, Bradley Barfoot, Ross Kersey, Ben Butler, Jack Stevens, Ross Parkinson, Lewis Barfoot, Kelvin Townsend, Terry House and Jordan Carter plus many more.
In the JCT Developments Junior Championship things are still tight at the top as it is just 3 points separating current Championship leader Kieran Yorke and Daniel Wade, but it could all go down to dropping there worse three races at the end of the Championship so it is all to play for and with a full entry of 120 riders looking to qualify for the main Championship race which will include several Wildcards this could well make things interesting.
In the Wulfsport Over 35 Championship which is full up early Championship leader Wayne Shimell on the TyreMarks Honda who totally dominated the first three rounds until a broken Wrist put him out at the last round returns, but currently sits 5
th in the Championship but he of course will drop his worse three races which was the last round whereas the riders above him have yet to do so it could get interesting. Currently leading the standings by 4 points is another local rider Darren Banwell on the Cheddar MX Honda from James Kensington who took his first Overall on the day at the last round and will be looking to repeat that performance again, but it won’t be plain sailing as lining up with them will be the likes of Peter Bulley, Mike Burgess, Ben Harmon, Luke Dewey, Julian Turner plus many others.
In the Over 45 class which is also full it’s the J D Racing KTM of Leigh Williams who is no stranger to riding at Farleigh over the years that leads the Championship by 28 points from David Ford but as with the other classes this could all change when they drop there worse three races so they will be looking to have three good results as will the likes of Dean Davies, Neil Stephens, Robert Topp, Richard Tapscott, Laurence Watkins and many others including wildcards all keen to do well on this famous track.
Farleigh Castle has easy access with easy parking and will be sign posted off the A36 Frome to Bath road (Postcode BA2 7RR) with the first race at 10-30am. (Please note access to venue is restricted to after 1pm to 8pm on the Saturday and from 7am on race day)
There are still a few spaces left, just go on the ACU website www.acu.org.uk or call Mel on 01626 365335 to book in.
