Time to Reflect - 110 Years of Bemsee
This Saturday is the 20th of April - this picture shows W.Cook having just won the very first motorcycle race held at the original Brooklands circuit in Weybridge, on Easter Monday on his NLG – a bike that’s still at the museum. A group of motorcycle enthusiasts of the day came together and persuaded BARC who ran this car meeting to add a motorcycle race to the schedule.

It was this embryonic start that lead to this group of enthusiasts creating the British Motorcycle Racing Club and founding that formally a year later on the 19th April 1909. Effectively then this weekend marks the clubs 110th anniversary.

There have been a few small gaps in operations since and the club became incorporated as a limited company 1948. Here we are well over a century later still enjoying the sport we all love. Our racing memories look back at the exploits of many that are still living as well as many who have been and gone - some of them became the greatest racers this sport has ever seen.

So, thank you to all our current and past members for making the Club what it is today. It still honours its roots as a Club built by racers - run by racers - for its racers.

Join the Celebration!

Brooklands is holding a Motorcycle Show on 30th June and Bemsee will have a presence there with an awning and bikes representing all our current day classes. All our Members are welcome. If you are interested in putting your bike on the stand and spending time there promoting the Club to the public, please contact Mike or Tracey at the office by email. Members can also apply to take their bikes up the historic Test Hill on the day for a small fee.
