The final round of the 2018 ACU / F.S.R.A. British Formula 2 Sidecar Championship takes places at Oulton Park. With seven meetings down, the final round is once again hosted by North Gloucester Road Racing Club this weekend. The Super F2 championship has been won once again by Teams Founds Racing - Pete Founds / Jevan Walmsley, for a third consecutive season, this has only previously achieved once before with the pairing of Tom Hanks and Steve Wilson between1997 and 1999. The runners up spot has also been secured by the pairing of Team ARC - Lee Crawford / Scott Hardie, their best championship finish to date, and equalling Lee's runner up position of 2016 which he achieved with a number of passengers. Third place is very much still to be decided, and could not be any tighter with two teams locked on 153 points: Ramsden Racing - Steve and Matty Ramsden and the Lowther Brothers John and Jake. Sitting in fourth twenty one points back are newly married Sean Hegarty and new dad James Neave, after they failed to score points at the last round at Castle Combe, it could have been even tighter and with fifty points still up for grabs they cannot be discounted. In fifth position just five points in arrears and also leading the F2 Cup championship after a remarkable debut season together are Daryl Gibson /Ashley Moore. It is also still mathematically possible for sixth placed Conrad Harrison / Andy Winkle to achieve third in the championship if results go their way. The F2 Cup championship is still to be decided however, Gibson / Moore hold a thirty eight point advantage over last seasons runners up Ralph Remnant / Samantha Tilley. The latter have kept the leaders keen with reliability and consistent results over the fourteen completed races this season. Third place could go to any of the following teams, currently in third - Richard Lumley / Ray Whitnall (123); Chris Schofield / Derek Taylor (117); David Schofield / Dave Ryder (106); and Brian Ilaria / Olly Lace (93) With racing only allowed on a Saturday at Oulton it will be very busy day for all teams with qualifying and two races over eight laps. The aggregate winners will be awarded the Steve Norbury trophy. Steve won the British Formula 2 championship in 2006. In 2008 whilst racing his F1 sidecar he succumbed to his injuries after an accident in Germany. The lap record for the F2 at Oulton Park is currently held by Peter Founds / Jevan Walmsley. The pair broke the record in April of last year then lowered it again when they entered a round with the Hyundai Heavy Construction Championship which runs with the British Superbikes. Although they are on a different chassis this season and recorded a lap record at the last meeting, with weather permitting, they will be attacking 1:48.657 that they currently hold.
