The Manx 2 National 2-Day Trial saw local riders to the fore in both main classes with Gas Gas mounted Josh Brain taking his fourth win in dominant style, whilst the Scorpa mounted pair of Nigel Crellin/Chris Molyneux taking the Sidecars.
After a clean ride on day one, Brain showed his dominance losing just 7 marks on a much tougher Sunday route to take the victory from veteran all-rounder Juan Knight in second on his Gas Gas UK machine, with TRS rider Ben Sprigg in third, just a couple of marks behind.
The change in dates has seen a welcome increase in numbers across all solo classes and it was nice to see the Expert class well supported this year.
The Sidecar competition was also tight, and it was close all the way through the event between former British Champions Crellin/Molyneux and current leaders of the 2018 Championship Olly Lace/Ealish Baxter. The experience shone through at the end though with the Scorpa crew completing the weekend for a loss of 2 marks, clear of Lace/Baxter on 6 marks, with third placed Jack Corlett/Beth Thomas also on 6 marks but losing out on cleans to their fellow locals both crews on matching 300 Gas Gas outfits.
The very well supported Clubman class saw newcomer George Pollard take the top step with a loss of 9 marks for the two days, with Aled Price finishing second on a most cleans count back. James McCanna took his 4RT to the final podium position on 13 marks.
