So much more than just the Mountain….. Cadwell is demanding for bike and rider
After a late start to the season after the cancellation of the Pembrey pre-season test and the first round at Brands due to the beast-of-the-east we finally got the season underway at Anglesey last month.

This Cadwell round sees us with most of our prospective front runners already showing good form. As ever we expect two-time NG champion Josh Day to be the target man for the Open and Powerbikes. Over the last couple of seasons Josh has set lap records at will and is the current fastest man with at lap at over 86mph. His main rivals for this meeting will come in the shape of James Kiff, Nick Williamson, Alistair Haynes and Chris Pope. Keep an eye on Ivan Lintin too, he wil be giving his Superstock ZX10 a run out in preparation for the Isle of Man TT.

The 250 and 125GP series has Philip Aktinson returning after sitting out much of the latter part of 2017 due to injury, and if the recent Anglesey meeting is anything to go by he is bang back on form. However, Thomas Lawlor, Bruce Dunn and Phil Stead were giving him something to think about. Gavin Mills heads up the 125 list from Darren Jones.

The frantic 600 class will have Aaron Ridewood looking to get to the top of the points table after a host on non-full-series wild cards turned up at Anglesey. Chris Mort, Sean Montgomery, David Irons, Alex Jones and Kayla Barrington will be his biggest rivals. Keep an eye out though for a couple of very quick 600 class newcomers though in the shape or Blake Shaw and Aaron Hughes, they could cause an upset or two!

Looking to keep their good run of 2018 for going here will be Jay Able in the F125 class, Tim Bradley in the F400, David Irons on his new R6 Streetstocker, Will Bryant on the new to him Pre Injection CBR 600 as well Phil Webber in the Formula Prostock.....plus the Bandit challengers of John Warwick, James McHardy, Matthew Baker and Haley Prebble who have us some of the best racing last time out at Anglesey

We always seem to concentrate on the obvious classes, but look down the programme to the Mini Twins and Super Twins, Streetstock, Pre Injections, Formula 400 and Formula Prostock and you will see some frantic action.

As ever with NG there will be the full gamut of race bikes out on this stunning Cadwell Park circuit. Powerbikes, 500's, 600’s, Streetstock, Pre Injections, Streetstocks, Formula Prostock, Desmo Due Ducati's, Mini Twins, Super Twins, Sound of Thunder, SuperMono and Sidecars....There is something for every racer and race watcher......

Cadwell Park Circuit

Fondly nicknamed the 'mini-Nürburgring', Cadwell Park celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2014. Cadwell's twisty and undulating nature, winding through open park and woodland, has marked it out as one of the best circuits in the country. The circuit is one of the most popular destinations on the MCE Insurance British Superbike calendar for both riders and spectators, with the infamous 'Mountain' section, which riders usually tackle airborne, providing a particular challenge. But the track is so much more than just the mountain. Every corner demands respect, and the final section of the lap under the trees can often be the downfall of many a rider as it is very tight and often stays damp under the trees after rain !!…Hopefully that will not be an issue in early Summer (…..fingers crossed)

NG's Fastest Rider at Cadwell Park

Josh Day holds the figures for the fastest NG lap here at Cadwell dating back to June last year. He set the lap on his ZX10R and circulated in 1min 30.51sec, which equates to an average of 86.70mph.

Adding extra interest to the weekend

NG Road Racing is again running and promoting the British National series for 125cc and 250cc GP machinery now with backing from Dymag and Hartsmere Logistics. This is the only place in the UK that you will see these ex-GP machines racing for a full British Championship title backed by the ACU (The sports governing body in the UK). We also welcome the Ducati Desmo Due Series back for another year and the same goes for the ever growing band of Formula Prostock runners.

Cadwell Park, spectacular for riders and spectators alike.....

Meeting number three of 2018 means three more championship rounds for the regular NG classes after an exiting season opener at Anglesey (Brands was cancelled due to snow !). Cadwell Park is another of the UK's top circuits and to put it simply one of the most spectacular places to go racing...or to watch racing.

Riders’ love the challenge of one of the most demanding strips of tarmac on the UK mainland, and everyone always talks about the famous.... or infamous Mountain, but Cadwell is so much more than that.

On track there is the full range of NG classes, which as ever includes classes for everything from 125GP to Powerbikes, plus a mouth-watering selection of Sound of Thunder... Streetstock... Supermono and Super Twins. The Phoenix Open is the focus for many, but there is also the Dymag 250 GP and Hartsmere 125GP Nationals, The Ducati Desmo Due's and The Formula Prostocks, and for fans of sidecars...well they are there too.

So whatever your racing tastes there is something for you.

We cannot wait for two days of action in the Park, there is no better place to go racing.

What’s on track

Up to 20 NG Road Racing championship races each day split into qualifiers and finals for each of the classes. That means some 8 hours of on track action each day. I suggest you get in nice and early, take a wander around the paddock and soak up the atmosphere as the riders go through technical inspection and free practice, they then take to the track for the new for 2018 timed qualifying sessions. There are then three points scoring championship races over the weekend.
