Danney McCanney
After the very successful opening round
of this year’s ACU British Timecard Enduro Championship taking place in
Hampshire back in February, the series now heads to the picturesque market town
of Helmsley, North Yorkshire & will take place over the weekend of 12th/13th
May.
John Kerwin the Clerk of the Course for Dirtbike
Actions “Putoline Yorshire 2 Day Enduro”
has spent the recent last few months busy in preparation for this year’s event
& all things are looking good for another cracking round. For this event
John is again working alongside the Fast Eddy Racing Team who shall be setting
up both special tests to bring you a top quality event.
John has plotted a flowing route of around 20 miles through
the Duncombe Park Estate using a mixture of technical trails & some wider
forestry tracks with the aim being to provide an enjoyable weekends riding for
all classes.
The check times will be set so that they are
achievable by the majority in each class.
Flying Manxman Danny McCanney will be the man to beat
in the championship class after a commanding win at round 1, but Tom Sagar back
on fine form after a year out & Joe Wootton back to his best will be
looking to challenge McCanney.
Young hotshots Jack Edmondson & Dan Mundell will
be hoping to get some podium finishes too.
Not far behind the leading quartet though are Cornish
star Josh Gotts & former top motocross rider Alex Snow. Other BEC regulars
including Fraser Flockhart, James Dent, Tom Ellwood, Jed Etchells & Jay
Thomas will all be hoping to score some good points. Another young man on a
mission will be Alex Walton hoping to put his recent European & World
Enduro Championship experience to gain some good championship points.
In the highly competitive Experts class in-form Dylan
Baynton will be hoping for another win, but will face stiff opposition from
Aaron Gordon, Max Ditchfield, Jon Hunt & Ben Murphy. Others hoping to get
in on the points are Jordan Ridgeway, Luke Flack, Richard Tucker & local
Michael Gilby to name but a few.
In the Clubman class another close battle will
commence between Lewis Ranger, Stuart Mack, Harry Houghton & Luke Thomas,
all capable of taking class wins on their day.
Nieve Holmes & Rosie Rowett will pick up where
they left off at round 1 in the Ladies class, while both Andrew Edwards (Over 40’s) & Julian Oakes (Over 50’s)
will take some beating in their respective classes.
All
in all, it’s all starting to hot up in this year’s BEC series & with an improved
Helmsley on the cards, its look like we will be in for a belter!
The
start is located off Braxton’s road, Helmsley, North Yorkshire YO62 5EP.
The
venue will be signposted from Helmsley market square.
