If confirmation was needed that Great Britain has the best Enduro riders the final round of the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship.
Held in Schopau Germany the venue used some of same going as used in 2012 ISDE and provided a tough traditional Enduro event with 3 laps of 68km each day couples with 3 Special tests each lap. There were literally thousands upon thousands of German fans there to witness the climax of the series and parking turned out to be the biggest problem in an exceptional event.
Steve Holcombe had set his sights on becoming the 2017 Enduro GP World Champion and his work and effort paid off when he not only won the title but also both days of the event. Steve also proudly claimed the coveted Mika Ahola “Brave One Trophy” Trophy.
It did not end with that superb result however and Brad Freeman became the World Junior Enduro Champion. Brad also won both days of his class, but it was not until the final Special test on the final day that he was able to confirm the Championship. Brad seemed unfazed with this tight finish, but supporters and friends were biting fingernails until the very end.
On Day 1 the podium saw Danny McCanney on top podium spot with Jamie McCanney in 3
rd spot.
The Day 2 podium had Jamie McCanney in 1
st place with Danny McCanney 2
nd.
In the final 2017 World standings Nathan Watson also took 3
rd place in Enduro GP and Jamie McCanney was World runner up in Enduro 2.
The podium and National Anthems were definitely dominated by the British.
