The penultimate round of the ACU/FSRA British Formula Two sidecar championship hosted for the first time in seven years with the East Midlands Racing Association at the friendly circuit Mallory Park. On Saturday 9th September, there will be a free practice session and qualifying for the two races taking place on Sunday 10th September.
A feature at the end of the day on Saturday will be taxi rides. Anyone who would like to have a taxi ride will also need to complete the documents on the day no later than 4pm. All money raised will go to the Keepsmiley4riley Fund This charity has been set up in memory of Riley Clay grandson of former FSRA committee members and Sidecar Driver Dean Banks and Jane who fought a battle with a rare form of cancer and sadly lost his battle only a few days ago, Riley was 18 months old and the family are wanting to help support families who go through a similar situation to provide somewhere to spend time with children with limited life expectancy. For the sidecar racing community, this is a small way to contribute to such a worthy cause.
Could the reigning champions Peter Founds/Jevan Walmsley seal the title at Mallory? The duo have a fifty seven point lead to those in second place Steve and Matty Ramsden. The latter will be looking to consolidate their second place and with the Lowther brothers currently holding third have opted to miss the remaining two rounds so Conrad Harrison/Andy Winkle will be looking for big points at Mallory to usurp the Lowthers in third place as they are currently lying in fourth position twenty six points behind. With 100 points still up for grabs Lee Crawford/Scott Hardie currently in fifth position in the championship are a further thirteen points back.
In the F2 cup after securing six class wins on the trot are the Manx pairing of Mike Jackson/Callum Crowe who hold a healthy thirty four point lead to Nicky Dukes/William Moralee who in turn are just six points ahead of third placed Brian Ilaria and Jody James, they hold a twenty point cushion to Ralph Remnant and Samantha Tilley in fourth place. So it really is fairly tight in the Cup and reliability is key with two races on Sunday and with back to back meetings the following weekend at Cadwell Park for the final round.
There will be live timings available on the TSL website.
The current lap record on the 1.39 mile circuit is held by Simon Neary/Stuart Bond, this record has stood for nearly ten years at 55.351s.
