Great Turn out for the Annual Bob Collier Trophy MX in aid of Bloodwise- Long Buckby
Every year Northampton MCC host the Bob Collier Trophy MX at Long Buckby in aid of the Bloodwise charity. In stark contrast to the previous fortnight when dust caused issues, the track was in near-perfect condition. Heavy watering the previous day combined with overnight rain led to ultimate traction dust-free racing. Bob’s wide interest in different types of motocross were well represented with some great machines being ridden by old friends in many of the races.

Jack Gregory was in fine form on his 2 stroke Honda winning all three Expert & Junior races and laying down some of the day’s fastest lap times along the way. Aiden Maloney came out on top of a close battle for second in each leg taking second overall, from Michael McClurg who also opted for a 2 stroke Honda for this event. Sam Harwood hurtled towards Expert status by taking first place Junior in all three of his races. Matthew Ryan just beat George Cox to second place by a single point. Nathan Skinner took another hat-trick of wins in the Clubman class ahead of the ever stylish Ian Thompson and an on form Richard Jochacy.

Fraser Law once again won the Friends of Bob class, just in front of Brad Willis each time. Tom Rose finished third overall ahead of Reg Willis on his 500 Suzuki. Paul Kroner came out ahead in the Premier O40 class after some close battles with race one winner Cliff Lester. Cliff finished second overall ahead of Matthew Mason. Fraser Law took another 3 wins in the Elite Over 50 class ahead of Simon Tucker and Richard Ford each time. Richard Jochacy carried his form over from the Clubman class into the Super O60 class. Richard took wins in all three legs, with Trevor Roberts getting faster all day to take second overall. Third place went to Roger Knibbs ahead of twinshock Husky mounted Steve Mitton. Classes for EVOs, Twinshocks & 2 Strokes were combined. Greg Cox demolished all option to take the EVO win on the big 500 Honda. Steve Mitton and the Husky took the twinshock honours from maico-mounted Michael Freeman. Jack Gregory styled his way to another 3 wins in the 2 Stroke class with Michael McClurg always in hot pursuit. Max Nethaway took third just ahead of EVO winner Greg Cox.
