The third round of the FSRA/ACU Formula 2 British Sidecar Championship will be held at Donington Park on 13/14 May and sees the series being hosted for the second time this season by the North Gloucester Club. Last month was a busy month for the teams with back to back meetings for rounds one and two at Oulton Park and Cadwell Park respectively.
This will be the twenty sixth visit to the iconic Donington Park circuit since the FSRA began back in 1985. The current championship leaders and reigning champions Team Founds Racing Peter Founds/Jevan Walmsley have accrued eighty three points after the first two rounds and will be looking to consolidate their lead in the Super F2 championship which currently is twenty points over the next team of Ramsden Racing Steve and Matty Ramsden, fresh off a couple of wins at the Bob Smith Spring Cup at Scarborough. In third place and just two points behind are TT winners Conrad Harrison/Andy Winkle. In fourth position, five points back are the second team from Team ARC that of John and Jake Lowther. All four teams so far have finished four out of four races. In fifth position with a win and a second place to their names are Team ARC of Lee Crawford/Patrick Farrance, but unfortunately have suffered two DNF`s in the previous two meetings. The issue at Cadwell Park in the last round which forced them to retire has now been rectified and a brilliant showing at Olivers Mount in the Bob Smith Spring Cup with a double win around Scarborough with Lee driving and Jake Lowther in the chair.
In the F2 Cup it’s all hotting up with just ten points separating the top four teams. Currently leading the F2 Cup are Nicky Dukes/William Moralee on sixty one points, one point behind are Brian Ilaria/Jody James, just three points further back are Ralph Remnant/Samanth Tilley and six points futher back are Stuart Anderson/Phil Gravel. All teams have suffered one DNF but with the exception of the Ilaria/James all have recorded a win in the class. The pairing of Ilaria/James have recorded three second place finishes.
The winners of the Sunday race will be awarded the Bill Boddice Trophy courtesy of the Donington Supporters Club, this year presented by Mick Boddice Snr 9 times TT winner and British Champion and Mick Boddice Jnr.
This will be the last meeting before some of the teams head off to the Isle of Man TT races followed by the Southern 100 races a month later. The fourth round will commence weekend of July 29th/30th at the coastal circuit of Anglesey.
