Steve Holcombe Secures Enduro 3 World Championship as Brits Perform Well
The ACU would like to congratulate 22 year old Steve Holcombe from Devon who recently claimed the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship Enduro 3 title after taking victory on the opening day of the AMV GP of France, held in Cahors.

Steve started the event with one hand on the title and claimed his eleventh day win of the series to wrap-up his first ever enduro world championship title in style. He then went on the follow up the result with victory on the final day to make it twelve victories during the season. Holcombe strong season also saw him finish in third place in the Enduro GP class after taking event victories earlier in the year.

After winning the title Steve said “Winning this title is amazing, the perfect end to what has been an incredible year for me. It’s been an anxious time running up to this event. I felt good but not exactly at the level I’ve been riding all year. It was close with Manuel Monni and Johnny Aubert. They kept me on my toes but I did enough to become world champion, which feels amazing.

Holcombe was not the only British rider to claim success at the final round of the World Enduro Championship with Nathan Watson claiming a double victory, even after starting the opening day of the event being unable to remove the security lock on the front disk of his bike inside the parc ferme. The young Brit battled throughout the day with Eero Remes and despite Remes holding the upper hand throughout the day, a mistake on the final enduro test saw Watson eventually end the day 10 seconds ahead on day one.

Watson’s double victory saw him claim second place in the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship Enduro 1 class in his first full season of competing in Enduro events, which also saw Nathan claim the ‘Rookie of the Year’. Just behind Watson was fellow British rider Daniel McCanney in third place in the Championship.

In the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship Youth Cup, 19 year old Jack Edmondson had already claimed the title at the previous round and finished the season with two fourth place finishes. Also claiming a championship medal in the Enduro Youth Cup was Lee Sealey on his Yamaha machine.

Finally in the Women’s class Jane Daniels rode well at the final round to secure the bronze media in the Maxxis FIM World Enduro Championship Womens class for 2016.
