The final round of the 2016 European FIM Championships take place this coming weekend at Santa Pod Raceway starting on the 8-11th September.
Top Fuel Bike
Multi-time and reigning European Top Fuel Bike Champion Ian King leads the championship going into the final round by 44 points. Tied for second place are Rene Van Den Berg and Rikard Gustafsson. The championship is between these three riders. Other riders who could win the event are multi-time ACU Top Fuel Bike Champion Steve Woollatt who has won this event before. Also Filippos Papafilippou on his Pro Mod bike, which has run 6.54-206mph and could be a surprise winner.
SuperTwins
2015 and recently crowned Pro Nordic Champion Samu Kemppainen has dominated this years European FIM SuperTwins winning both rounds (Santa Pod and Hockenheim) and has a 43 points lead over reigning champion Martijn De Haas, the only rider who could stop Kemppainen. Roman Sixta won this event last year and has been running well recently. Chris Hannam will compete for the last time in the European FIM Championships after he announced this would be his final year competing in SuperTwins.
Pro Stock Bike
Gert-Jan Laseur won in Hockenheim and has a 43 points lead over Santa Pod event winner Alex Hope the ACU Pro Stock Bike Champion who is one point ahead of reigning European FIM Pro Stock Bike Champion Fredrik Fredlund. With both Martin Newbury and Len Paget having their best season ever in the championship.
Super Street Bike
Rick Stubbins has a slender lead of 11 points ahead of Shawn Buttigieg with Steve Venables a further 3 points behind. Reigning European FIM Super Street Bike Champion Garry Bowe is eight points behind Venables. At Hockenheim Bowe set a new championship speed record. If any of the top four slip up Thomas Granica has a slim chance to win the championship, he is 45 points adrift of Stubbins.
