Round 4 of this year’s British F2 Sidecar Championship takes place at Cadwell Park on Saturday/ Sunday 30/31st July. The last round at Anglesey saw the end of Pete Founds and Jevon Walmsley’s four-wins-in-four-races sequence, with first Steve and Mattie Ramsden taking their first British win on the Saturday with Lee Crawford and Patrick Farrance opening their win account for the year on the Sunday. Founds had to be content with a second place in race two but with all three leading outfits also suffering a retirement, Founds’ title lead was only cut by five points and his 120 points total to Ramsden’s 84 and Crawford’s 81 still represents a healthy lead.
The top points scorers at Anglesey were Lewis Blackstock and Paddy Rosnay with a second and third and they now lie in 6
th place with 45 points, just a point clear of Dave Wallis and Harry Payne who also took two wins at the recent Cock Of The North meeting at Scarborough.
Just five points ahead of Blackstock, are Gary and Darryl Gibson, and their consistency has helped them to a comfortable points lead in the F2 Cup competition for the slightly less experienced teams. The Gibsons have 117 points, 39 clear of Nick Dukes and William Moralee and 42 ahead of Blackstock. Mind, Blackstock’s 75 points come from 3 class wins, including both Anglesey races and he’ll be out to continue to put pressure on the Gibsons.
Besides the championship points up for grabs, we also have Bill Barrowcliff presenting his special awards on Saturday, while for the overall winners over the two races, there is the Steve Norbury Trophy which will be awarded after the Sunday race. Mr Jim Norbury, the FSRA President, will be on hand to make the presentation and we must thank Jim and all at Lockside Engineering for their ongoing sponsorship of our championship.
Cadwell Park is the most used circuit in this championship’s history and besides spectacular viewing for the spectator, it invariably throws up some championship changing results – we’ll see!! Enjoy the racing!!
