OWLS Motor Club will be hosting a trial event at Bowens Farm, Poundsbridge Lane, Penshurst in Kent (TN11 8AJ) on Sunday 8th May. The Reg Wingett Trial will be starting at 10.30 am with Entry fees of Adults - £15.00 Youths - £13.00 and Entries on the day will be £20.00
There will be 13 classes ranging from Expert to Sportsman so there's something for everyone. Regs can be found in the April edition of The Sporting Motorcyclist.
Reg Wingett was the OWLS Club Secretary for many years before, during and after the Second World War. During the war, in lieu of our club magazine , The OWLER, (still going strong today), Reg used to send out newsletters to all the Members, even those in the forces. Reg used to print the Final Regulations and Results for the OWLS grass track, scramble (as they were known then!) and trials events using a Gestetner machine. What fun it all was!
The Bowens Farm venue has been used by the OWLS Motor Club of over 40 years courtesy of the Bastable Family. The OWLS Motor Club also host Club Trials every month except in May, sometimes in cooperation with the GEST Trials Club and have recently started to cater for modern sidecars and would welcome more sidecar entries but they are advised to check with Alan Miles (
joycem@talktalk.net) as a couple of our venues are not suitable for chairs.
