The first Mike Hailwood Foundation Newcomers Weekend organised by the Manx Motor Cycle Club for potential MGP Newcomers was held on 26/27/28th February and 11/12/13th March and there was a truly international feel with riders attending from the Isle of Man, UK, Ireland, Austria, Denmark, France, Spain and the USA.
With the requirement to complete the prescribed TT Course Newcomer Training with qualified ACU instructors who live on and off the Island, the positive feedback from the potential Newcomers regarding the quality, experience and knowledge Instructors has been tremendous. As well as completing a number of laps over the weekend, they were given the opportunity to learn about the whole structure of the event, the technical inspection requirements for their machines and ask questions from the MMCC members who are senior officials of the event.
MMCC Chairman Harvey Garton commented "We are delighted to see so many riders from all around the world with so much enthusiasm for the Manx Grand Prix visiting the Isle of Man. We are sure all the valuable advice given so freely by all our volunteers over the weekend will prepare the Newcomers for competing on the TT Course".
