ACU BRITISH ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 & 2 PREPARES TO HIT HELMSLEY
The first rounds of the 2016 ACU British Enduro Championship are just over two weeks away and Helmsley in North Yorkshire is the destination for a full entry of 208 riders.

John Kerwin from Dirtbike Action, the Organiser of the first event is very upbeat about some of changes that have been made for the first event.

“We have made some changes to this year’s event to make the start and camp area the main focal point of the event.  We have moved the event date to March to make provision for a new XC test which will take place on a 35 acre stubble field.  Revamped, the tight check now ends opposite the refuelling area at the start, so the start area is the main hub and to add a bit more spice for the riders the Course has been reversed for the first time and an additional bit of land added to complement the Course“.

One to watch this year is championship rider Steve Holcombe who has just returned from the Factory Beta teams Headquarters in Italy testing the new 300rr ahead of the season.

Steve’s last visit to Helmsley didn’t go as planned.  He crashed on Day One which left him with an injury to his forearm causing him to lose time and finish  6th at the end of Day One.

DayTwo at Helmsley had some bad weather which completely changed the event. Steve pushed forward on the second day and despite his injury managed to pull out a win!

Talking about the forthcoming championship, Holcombe said “I'm really looking forward to round one of the BEC this year as I have one goal and that's to win! I will be physically prepared.

I have full confidence in my machinery and team and I am just generally excited to get the 2016 British Championship underway, It will be interesting to see how they have changed the event for this year, with I believe a different test added in. It should give the Course a fresh feel and it’ll be good to see all the familiar faces again after a hefty break”

This season we will also see the return of only female Experts E1 rider Jane Daniels, who qualified 4th last year. Riding for St Blazey MX again this year aboard a Husqvarna 250F, Jane says that she definitely felt like she improved towards the final rounds of the BEC and is really looking forward to improving again this year.

With an additional round of the championship taking place in the Isle of Man over 6th/7th August, everything is now gearing up to an exciting BEC championship this year.
