After a two year hiatus the world-renowned track of Desertmartin in Ireland will host the fourth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship on June 12th.
Desertmartin is easily one of the most spectacular circuits in the world. It is more than just a pretty picture with its rich orange sand and its superb mix of obstacles and elevation. The soil alone is every riders dream; it can take a hammering from the weather and will still be ride-able as the ACU Events Series Manager, Stuart Drummond, found out earlier this week. “I went to have a look at the track a couple of days ago” Mr. Drummond said, “they have had some horrendous weather out there but that hasn’t phased the track much at all, it has taken the rain extraordinarily and despite it the track actually looks great!”
Mr Drummond was recently out in Ireland to meet with Cookstown & District Motorcycle Club Director Mr Billy McKeown and Miss Marlene Sykes, Club Secretary and Treasurer where they sealed the deal on Desertmartin hosting the fourth round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship.
Both parties, Mr Drummond, on behalf of the ACU Events, and Mr McKeown, are pleased that the agreement has been made for Desertmartin to make its highly anticipated return. With the deal signed, the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship is already looking forward to returning to Desertmartin for the first time since 2013.
Desertmartin is a world-class venue best known for its rounds of the FIM Motocross World Championship in ’05 and ’06. It is also recognized in Great Britain and the motocross community for its ability to attract big and enthusiastic crowds, which we can expect to see once again on June 12
th 2016 as the venue will be hosting the fourth round of Great Britain’s premier motocross series, the Maxxis British Motocross Championship.
