A spectacular sporting event for all the family, The International Lincolnshire Poacher Longtrack, comes to Skegness on Bank Holiday Sunday 30th August 2015.
A galaxy of World Elite solo motorcycle riders and top 1000cc sidecar teams will battle for the coveted Poacher titles and a slice of the huge £10,000 prize fund on the superbly prepared 1,000 metre Thorpe St. Peter circuit – the biggest and fastest in the country.
The Wainfleet Motorcycle club has once again assembled an awesome line up including world elite Speedway, Grasstrack and Longtrack riders. The riders race hi-tech machines using pure methanol fuel which accelerate faster than a Formula 1 car and slide around corners at speeds approaching 100mph – without any brakes!
Heading the Speedway contingent is Speedway Grand Prix rider Chris (Bomber) Harris of the Coventry Bees - a three time British Champion. He is joined by Birmingham Brummies skipper Tom Perry along with 17 year old sensation Zach Wajtknecht, who already has two world junior championship titles to his name.
Grasstrack / Longtrack specialists include the spectacular James Shanes who recently claimed runner up spot in his European Championship Final debut to go alongside his 2015 World Team Longtrack Championship gold medal. Another member of World title winning Team GB and 3 time Poacher winner Andrew Appleton has signed up again, along with multiple British Grasstrack 250cc Champion Harland Cook and last year’s Poacher runner up Paul Cooper. Tim Nobes, Mitch Godden, Georgie Wood, Callum Walker and Mark Baseby are also sure to be in the mix.
An awesome overseas contingent is headed by Flying Dutchman Jannick de Jong who recently posted his third European Championship title. Fellow Dutchman and World Longtrack GP rider Theo Pijper (former Poacher winner and 2 times European Champion) and Mark Stiekema also need no introductions at the Skegness circuit. Germany’s European finalist, Christian Hulshorst is also sure to be a major threat.
The Poacher Sidecar event features thrilling 100mph action with the world’s fastest off-road 1000cc Sidecars racing only inches apart with no compromise! Friskney’s Colin Blackbourn, with passenger Carl Pugh must beat off the cream of the country’s three wheeled gladiators if they are to have any chance of a record breaking fourth Poacher title. Reigning British Masters Champions Rod Winterburn and Liam Brown probably start as slight favourites while many other teams will fancy their chances including two times Poacher champion Rob Bradley with Wrangle based passenger Shaun Simpson.
Practice starts at 11am and the main action starts at 1.00pm when the fastest solo and sidecar teams will be going flat out for the Poacher Bahnrekord flying lap trophies with major cash prizes.
On Saturday evening there is live entertainment on stage in the barn which has a fully licensed bar with real ale and a selection of hot food.
Admission includes superb camping and caravanning facilities at the trackside for the whole weekend with modern flush toilets, hot showers and all the attractions of Skegness just four miles away. The Poacher Bank Holiday weekend experience is definitely not one to be missed!
The circuit is signposted from all major routes into Skegness, at Thorpe St. Peter, off the B1195. (postcode for Sat Nav users is PE2 4NR.)
