While the UK has basked in Sahara like temperatures the British Supermoto Championship have been busy preparing to bring round five of the championship back to the spiritual home of supermoto, Three Sisters Race Circuit.
The weekend of the 18th – 19th July will allow spectators to witness some full blown adrenalin fuelled track action to raise temperatures even further, but the riders will be hoping to play it cool as the demanding Wigan circuit will test the stamina of both riders and bikes alike as the heat continues to rise.
Going into round five both the 450 Elite and Open Elite Championships have so far been dominated by NPS / DCR rider Matt Winstanley who has continued to open up a points gap on his nearest rivals. Current and reigning Open Elite champion was sidelined at round four due to a hand injury sustained while securing the Australian Supermoto Championship back in June and with a few weeks rehabilitation we are hoping to see the multi British champion back out on track and competing with the front runners.
The 450 Elite Championship, one of the most hotly contested classes in the championship has brought much entertainment to watching spectators, with battles ensuing between, Matt Winstanley, (NPS / DCR Honda), Lewis Cornish (Team CRT - TM)) and Jay Smith (Skyzone KTM).
Open Elite Championship has returned similar breathtaking excitement to the watching crowds with again Matt Winstanley, Jay Smith and Scott Murray on the TM all pushing hard to improve on their championship places. 450 Elite Top Three

Entertainment will also be provided by the packed grids in the National and Michelin Cup classes where many are pushing hard to clinch their respective class and move up to the Elite Championships for 2016. Another class to keep an eye out for is the Nameplate Services 'Give It A Go' Novice Cup which provides the opportunity for road based supermotos, or those taking their first steps onto a race circuit.
