The fourth round of the Sammy Miller Trials Championship centred on Nidderdale on Sunday where only fifty five competitors rode the one lap thirty five mile course and thirty one sections.
The trial tracked previous Miller events with old favourite Watergate kicking off the action then two miles up Greenhow Bank to Cockhill Mines.
The Watergate sections featured the grassy climb whereas Cockhill Mines had some scree climbs. Lee Granby and passenger and Rupert. Kimber did not have the pleasure of riding the four Watergate sections apparently to a mechanical malfunction with their C15 BSA outfit.
In Class 1 Ian Peberdy continued his domination recording his fourth victory over Triumph mounted Yrjo Vesterinen. Had the former world champion not stopped in middle sub at West House Farm the result would have been totally different. Watergate was mild for the solo classes but the opener in Cockhill.
The stream crossing and right hand banking exit plunder marksled. The three mile ride up Nidderdale brought West Wood into play. The last sub in Wards marked the end of the day for James Noble and his Ariel who pulled out with a single mark on his score.
After Winksley Moor the sting was in the tail- Kingstone Farm and its five sections. Randall clocked up fifteen in failures. Granby’s dab in the second was class best. That second section killed off most of the solo runners.
