ACU EDMONDSON RACING BRITISH ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS TO ACTION AT KNIGHTON
The ACU Edmondson Racing British Enduro Championship returns to action in just two week’s time at the hugely popular Knighton event.

After a lengthy break in the championship due to the immensely busy worldwide enduro calendar, riders will be back chasing glory in the Welsh forest of Knighton.

Jamie McCanney currently heads the hotly contested championship class but with 7 rounds left, it’s anyone’s game. After a few recent Enduro World Championship victories ahead of Jamie McCanney and also after winning the last round in Helmsley, Steve Holcombe will be looking to step up to the mark as points leader in Knighton.

Just three points separate the top four riders. Reigning British Enduro Champion, Tom Sagar, won round three in Helmsley and despite not yet winning a BEC round this year, Daniel McCanney is consistently getting faster at the Enduro World Championships.

The Championship boys are certainly going to be an exciting class to follow as the year progresses. Top four aside, David Knight will be returning to action on the back of two strong EWC results in Belgium, Jack Edmondson is picking up some seriously quick speed, Daryl Bolter is keeping everyone in check and Joe Wootton has been working extremely hard behind the scenes.

Jake Gowan has a healthy points lead in the Expert class but there are more than a handful of riders who are capable of winning. “I’m happy to be leading the points” said Jake. “It’s my first year competing in Enduro and it’s been a steep learning curve. Helmsley didn’t go exactly as planned for me but I’ve been working hard to make sure I’m ready to push for a win again in Knighton.”

The Knighton event starts at Stud Farm, directly off the A488 at Monaghty, 5 miles west of Knighton and boasts a fantastic large and flat paddock area.

New for the 2015 event is the re-introduction of the fabulous Gwernafyl grass hillside test, which was last, used back in 2011. This means there will be approx 4 miles of roadwork involved. The second test is the familiar cross country test, above the farm, which hosts the infamous rock gulley section.

Three laps are proposed for Saturday and two for Sunday with back to back cross country tests on the final lap. Course mileage is approx 35 miles, with three or four checks per lap.

The entries for this event are now open and are restricted to just 180 riders across all classes. You can be sure the event will fill up fast.
