Welsh 2 Day Set for Change of Route for 2015
Following a number of years where the route for the most popular two day timecard enduro has remained constant, the hard working Two Day Committee have decided to have a bit of a shake up and head for the hills - literally.

While many riders will remember mountain top going as a regular feature of past events, it was the interest of local landowners that encouraged the change. Clerk of the Course, Huw Watkins said, “We had a number of land owners mention to some of the committee that they would like to see the event return to the ground east of Llandod’. We are fortunate that the Central Wales Auto Club at Knighton have been a huge help this year, especially as their event is only 6 weeks after ours.”

The route is also intended to minimise the distance travelled by service crews, and with the 3 special tests at Crossgates, Saint’s Well and Abbeycwmhir all being within 6 miles of one another, it will be useful for the spectators to be able to get to each test.

The event is again sponsored by ET James of Rhayader (who will be announcing their customary W2D ‘Top Deals’) and the special tests are sponsored by Steve Plain Motorcycles who provides the Michelin marking tape, ensuring that the riders stay on track!

The Sidecar classes have almost 40 crews vying for class and overall honours, and form at the top of the Championship class indicates it will be a tight battle. In the Championship solo class, three former winners, Ady Smith, Ed Jones and Daryl Bolter will be trying to stay ahead of rising stars like Joe Wooton and Steve Holcombe, both impressing in Europe recently.

At the other end of the competition spectrum, many riders are making their annual pilgrimage to enjoy the event, meet old friends and add to their collection of Welsh 2 Day mugs! Whatever the rider’s ambitions, a great couple of days is anticipated.

The Clerk of the Course also added, “It’s been a really encouraging few months, we are trying to keep everyone updated on our Facebook and Web Site, the scene was set with the huge clamour for entries - huge thanks to the ACU team for the online entries. The route application has gone really well this year, with thanks to the MSA and Powys CC for their assistance. The schoolchildren’s poster competition was a really high standard, and we will have copies of the winning posters at the start.”

The event is on 25/26th June at Llandrindod, and further details can be found at the Web site http://welsh2dayenduro.com
