Round two of the ACU Dragbike Championships takes place over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend of 2-4th May.
Funny bike.
After qualifying as second alternate Dave Peters found his tune up and went on to win the opening round of this years championship at Santa Pod. He will be hoping to continue his good start to the season. Eric Richard from France ran a personal best of 7.386 at Santa Pod and will be one of the favourites for this event. Harold Wolfenden will be trying to run his first seven-second pass on his current bike. Allan Davies the 2014 Comp Bike Champion will be hoping his luck will change and sees him getting down the track running 7.5secs. As will Phil Crossley who only did a burnout at the opening round, when his engine broke and is another mid seven-second runner.
Comp Bike.
Reigning 8.50 Bike Champion Eddy Smiley made a great start in Comp Bike by winning the opening round. Paul Hambridge ran well and qualified number one with 7.902. Sean Mills reached his first ACU final and will be hoping to run for the same result. Kevin Osman didn’t qualify due to his radiator leaking, He will be challenging to win the event.
Super Street Bike.
Reigning champion Steve Venables damaged to his motor, while doing a burnout. The previous run saw him run under the ACU ET record (7.142) with a time of 7.138. Chris Reed was back to his top form at the opening round, qualifying in number two spot and running close to his personal best figures. Alex Hope had a great start in Super Street Bike reaching the semi-finals in his first event and will be hoping for another great outing. Nigel Barker has a better set up for 2015 and will be challenging for the event win. Dave Thomas will be making more improvements at the event.
