During the months of October, November and December, various interested manufacturers were invited to present and test their new ‘2015’ type silencer model built to meet or exceed the FIM requirements set in 2013.
The new ‘2015’ type silencers which passed the tests have received certification. These silencers will be the only products accepted and are compulsory to be fitted on Track Racing motorcycles used in the 2015 season for all FIM Speedway, Longtrack, Grasstrack World Championship and Price events, and also made to be used on 500 cc Sidecar competitions. Other newly presented silencer models will be tested as from September 2015.
Ice racing competitors will be required to use the new ‘2015’ type silencers as from the start of the 2016 season.
The following silencers were approved for the use as from the start of the 2015 season:

· The period of validity for a ‘2015’ type silencer is 5 years (un-modified). Silencers may be tested for compliance with the FIM sound levels in Track Racing if required.
· Silencer construction details are based on the following requirements: a silencer must be of a ‘mechanical’ type, making use of baffles, pipes or plates. No absorption materials are permitted to be in contact with the exhaust gases.
