THE HIGH OCTANE, ALL ACTION, DOCUMENTARY ROARS ONTO THE BIG SCREEN

Narrated by the incomparable broadcast legend Murray Walker, I, SUPERBIKER - DAY OF RECKONING is the electrifying, no-holds barred feature-length follow-up to 2012’s ground-breaking, critically acclaimed runaway success I, SUPERBIKER – THE SHOWDOWN: “Utterly thrilling” (Motorcycle News), “Truly Spectacular” (Daily Mirror). Distributed by Carnaby International, I, SUPERBIKER – DAY OF RECKONING will be released in cinemas across the UK on Monday 25th March.

The British Superbike Championships are the largest single spectator sport in the UK. I, SUPERBIKER… is the high-octane, all action, nail-biting wheel to wheel story of the 2012 British Superbike season which saw the most exciting close-knit final weekend round in its history, leaving just six riders competing for the prestigious title in a dramatic showdown.

As well as capturing stunning on-track action, I, SUPERBIKER… goes behind the scenes to follow the unfolding drama through the eyes of the wives, girlfriends, team mates and managers. Everyone wants their rider to win and everything that can go wrong probably will. The tension associated with such an exhilarating season spectacular is tangible.

The film’s writer, producer and director Mark Sloper of 400 TV comments: “I wanted to capture the emotion and passion of motorcycle racing and the drama of the new showdown format. This is a classic motorcycle racing film, set in the 2012 season but a timeless story that will stay fresh for years to come. I also wanted it to appeal to people outside the motorcycle industry and the fan-base and I truly believe it will change outsiders’ perceptions of motorcycling.”

I, SUPERBIKER – DAY OF RECKONING follows the human drama for the riders who are at the very top of the game and have everything to lose:

Tommy Bridewell: the West Country racer from Devizes is riding in memory of his brother Ollie who died tragically whilst racing. Without a ride at the beginning of the season, he’s miraculously got into the last six.

Josh Brookes: the bad-boy Australian narrowly missed out in 2011 and is determined to battle to the top. Whilst critics applaud his riding style, Josh is dangerous and aggressive and unpopular amongst the other racers.

Shane Shakey Byrne: the ex BSB champ is the fans’ favourite and an all round good guy, desperate to retain the crown for a third time to consolidate his place in British motorcycle racing history.

Michael Laverty: the Irish flyer is determined to win the elusive crown for his country. The likeable, shaven-headed racer is popular in the paddock, but time isn’t on his side if he is to have a realistic chance of winning.

Alex Lowes: the 21 year old identical twin to Sam, a racer in the world series, his family have sacrificed everything to enable him to become a competitive rider. With few resources and a new team, can he make an impact against the experienced old guns?

Tommy Hill: the British hero is the current British Superbike Champion, spectacularly winning the 2011 title by one sixtieth of a second, and is determined to prove himself the champion once more. With a pregnant fiancée in the wings, will his nerve hold in such treacherous riding conditions?

Tommy comments: “Only one man can be the winner. British Superbikes is motorcycle racing at its very best and the film captures that brilliantly. It’s amazing to see BSB on the cinema screen. It’s a massive sport with a great following – now hopefully people who don’t know it that well can see what an incredible event it is.”

Presented in stunning 2k digital cinema, I, SUPERBIKER – DAY OF RECKONING is distributed by Carnaby International (THE WEE MAN) in association with the MCE Insurance sponsored Superbike Championship (BSB) and Motorcycle News (MCN).
