This weekend sees the final round of the 2012 Maxxis British sidecarcross championship taking place at Canada Heights near Swanley in Kent, this is the second British championship to be run by the experienced Sidcup club so expect track and facilities to be first class.
The thunderous sidecars annual visit to the Heights always produces close exciting racing and this year’s finale has some hard fought season battles to be decided.
Currently leading the championship are Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain who are 44 points in front of second placed Richard Jenkins / Dan Chamberlain. Currently in third are Daniel & Joe Millard just 11 points adrift. These three teams are on a high after their superb bronze medal finish in the UEM team race in Holland last weekend.
If Stuart succeeds in clinching the championship it will be his 10th time and he will equal the record set by the Maidstone rider Chris Etheridge.
In the last two rounds at Wooley Grange and Wakes Colne the Millards were on top form and won all six races elevating them to third place. Considering they left round one back in April with zero points this is an amazing comeback.
Leading the following pack are Brett Wilkinson / Craig Parmenter in fourth and Steve and Stewart France in fifth. France had his best ride of the year at Wooley Grange coming third overall but an injury to Stewart’s foot at Wakes Colne slowed them in the last round. These two teams are both in with a chance of finishing in the top three.
With nearly 30 of the country’s top crews entered the racing should be fast and furious and may the best man win.
The meeting also features 9 support races with some of the best solo riders in the country competing for the prestigious south East Motocross Championship with Tony Cuddy, David Williams, Jack Brunell and Brett Fisher looking for those elusive podium places.
Everything you need for a great day out is provided by the Sidcup club, including excellent free parking, plenty of refreshments (and plenty of loo’s). There is a Beer tent and BarBQ on Saturday night to celebrate the end of series. The Sidcup club offers free overnight camping so a great event for all the family, adult admission £7, children with adults are free.
Canada Heights is at Swanley just off Junction 3 of the M25, further details can be found on the club’s website www.sidcupmcc.co.uk
