Iwan Roberts takes victory at the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British Youth Championship
Welsh Youth Trials Champion Iwan Roberts celebrated his sixteenth birthday by winning the fifth round of the Luscombe Suzuki Leeds British Class trials championship round organized by the North East Centre ACU at Longframlington, Northumberland on Sunday where he finished ahead of Denby Dale title leader Jack Stones and Ashby de la Zouch Sherco rider Luke Walker.

Iwan’s victory moves him up to third place in the standings, a mere point behind Walker, with two events still to run. The Ffestiniog youngster celebrated his sixteenth birthday on Saturday and his stunning victory made him the third winner this season with Price on three victories and Chester’s Dec Bullock winning the Isle of Man event. Immediately after the trial ended Mo and Iwan Roberts loaded their transporter, pausing only to unload the Trials Wales and John Roberts Ffestiniog Haulage sponsored Beta UK machine for a photographic session for the technical national Press.

Iwan and his parents were on a P and O Ferries ship on Sunday night heading for Holland and ultimately the Czech Republic to contest a World Youth Trial next weekend.

Dan Peace took Class B from Billy Bolt and Thomas Minta. On Saturday at the same venue. Kirkbymoorside’s Jack Peace won Class C from Cornish rider Toby Martyn and Bradford’s Kieran Child and neighbor Joe Faunthorpe. Moreton Hampstead youngster Billy Green headed Class C medium wheels for Bradford boy Charlie Smith. Addingham’s Edward Earle won Class D medium wheels and more or less clinched the class title. Jacob Smith, Charlie’s brother, was placed fourth.

In Class small wheels Liversedge boy Henry Stephenson was fifth ahead on Birstall contender Harvey Mosley. The Class C and D championship final round takes place at Tong in September. The Richmond and Mansfield Maun clubs close down the Class A and B series on September 2 at Low Row and Holloway on October 7.
