What’s on Weekly?
This week’s ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. With over 50 events taking place over this weekend under the ACU banner, here is a selection of just a few.
SuperMoto
In the Supermoto world, the opening round of the NORA ACU British Supermoto Championship starts at the CP50 circuit at Silverstone. The NORA ACU British Supermoto Championship this year consists of nine rounds, with the best eight results counting towards the championship, with eleven different classes ranging from Junior National championship to the Elite 450 championship. Also featured are two classes of Quad Supermoto championships. Practice starts from 9am on Saturday morning and during the course of the weekend each class will compete in three championship races. Motocross
This weekend the second round of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship takes place at Canada Heights in Kent on Sunday. After all the excitement of the first round Zach Osborne and Stephen Sword will be looking to close the gap at the top of both the MX2 and MX1 championship following their DNF’s. With the added excitement of wild card riders such as Joel Roelants and Marcus Schiffer in MX2 and Shaun Simpson and Sebastian Pourcel in the MX1 class, it’s set to be a superb event. Practice will begin at 9am and the first championship race at 12:15pm.
In the Southern Centre the South Hams MCC will be holding a Club meeting at Whiteway Barton with seven different classes competing on the day, ranging from Autos up to Adults. The meeting will begin at 9am with Practice and the opening race of the day leaving the line at around 10am. With a bumper race programme of 21 races there is sure to be plenty of action and with entrance prices for Adults at just £5 per person it’s worth a visit.
Enduro
This weekend see’s the opening round of the ACU British Cross Country Championship taking place at Low North Camp, Harwood Dale, North Yorkshire.The day will be split into two events, 10am until 12 noon is the chance for ALL Sportsman, Ladies and British Over50 competitors in the two hour Support event. After a short break for lunch and course alterations, the main British Pro/Expert, Over40, and Clubman aces will be showing off their talents for a full two and a half hours around the ex-army training camp. Venue open from 10am Saturday for camping and track inspection. A massive hard standing paddock, two official spectator zones, and trade stands will compliment this National standard event. Trials
This weekend will see the third round of the S3 Championship. The Jack Woods Trial hosted by the Hillsborough Motor Cycle Club see’s the first of the 155 riders start of at 9:00am, from West Nab, High Bradfield, Nr Sheffield. With 50 sections set out predominately along rocky streams spread over 10 groups, which all come together ending at the infamous river Kwai will create a tough challenge for the riders. S3 Championship riders to look out for will be Dan Thorpe, Ricky Wiggins and Shaun Fox along with non-championship Experts Michael Brown, Alexz Wigg and Jonathan Richardson.
In the Eastern Centre the Ipswich MC & LCC club will be holding a Trial at Papermill Lane in Bramford, Ipswich. The Trial starts at 10:30am Sunday and will also incorporate a round of the Eastern Centre Pre 70 Trials Championship.
Road Racing
The British Motorcycle Racing Club (BEMSEE) is privileged to be able to hold the first bike race meeting on the new 300 circuit at Snetterton. The race meeting over the duration of the weekend features 16 races on Saturday and a bumper 18 race programme on Sunday. Over the winter period, the Snetterton circuit has undergone same major redevelopment and redesign on the course creating three different circuits at the venue.
