Glorious sunshine awaited the Express Insurance ACU British Youth Motocross Championship as it rolled into Foxhill Moto Park for the final round of this year’s series.

All of the classes were undecided coming into the final round so the riders were on the gas from the start providing some excellent racing.

The ACU Events team, along with the members of the track staff from Foxhill made sure everything was in pristine condition all weekend and must be congratulated for all the hard work they put in to make this final one to remember.

Big Wheel 85

This was the closest class all year as the battle for the title was on the line for two riders Ryan Houghton and Nathan Watson. Watson aboard the PAR Homes Honda as he blasted to five race wins. Houghton was playing it cool and picking up points, he had gathered enough after race four to claim the title. In the end he won by just 23 points from Watson in second, and Sunny Thompson in third.

PAR Homes Small Wheel 85

PAR Homes Honda rider Ben Watson came into the final round with an impressive lead of 132 points over second place man Connor Clark who was just one point ahead of Callan Cooper in third.

Watson was a sure winner of the title as long as he made no mistakes and in race one he hit the front taking a gate to flag win with Cooper second and Garland passing Callaghan on the last lap to take third. Race two and Watson again made a blinding start ahead of Davidson, Josh Gilbert, Clark and Oliver Osmaston. Watson took another win with Clark second and Cooper third. This was enough with two wins to take the title. Watson took the title with a 163 point advantage over Clark but Cooper just missed out on second place by two points.

Cobra Junior 65

Conrad Mewse was certain to take the title in this class before his move up to the Small Wheel class next year.

He didn’t disappoint anyone either as he cruised to yet another win in race one. Mewse had a comfortable lead over Henry Williams and Sid Evans coming into the final round all eyes were on the battle for second place in the Championship between these two riders. With the title claimed Mewse had all the pressure off him, but he still continued to win. Williams claimed second in the championship behind Mewse, Evans tried his best but finished in third.

PAR Homes Youth Open

Josh Waterman came into the final round with a healthy lead of 135 points over second place man Jack Rowland, but he knew he would have a fight on his hands if he was going to add another title to the MXY2 title he took earlier in the year.

Two second places was enough for Waterman to be announced the 2009 Champion, but there was another days racing and battles to see who would be second, third and fourth in the championship. Rowland managed to hold on to second, Connor Walkley in third and Hawkins, who could have finished higher if he hadn’t missed the first round in fourth.

Adult Clubman Juniors and Experts

The final meeting for these two classes’ saw a good turn out of Experts and Clubman Juniors for the final round and with some top class riders out there it made life a bit harder for the championship runners. Sebastian Osbourne was the winner of all four races with Jamie Tempest, Chris Wratten, Dan Brough and Dean Haughton and a host of others going for the minor placings.

Osbourne took the overall in the expert’s class with Brough taking second and Championship leader Ryan Pottenger in third. Pottenger was already Champion and took home his number one plate as the first winner of this new class.

In the Adult Clubman Junior class, it was Championship leader Zac Stealey who took the wins and the overall Championship title, with Peter Eccles second and Thomas Bruce third. In the overall Championship Eccles finished second with Gary Pottenger in third.
